Rat cerebellar cells were deprived of oxygen-glucose for 20 minutes to simulate an ischemic event in vitro. Mild hypothermia of 33ÂșC was applied to the cells at various times before oxygen-glucose deprivation for 20 minutes. It was found that providing hypothermia before ischemia was able to provide a phase of neuroprotection.
